New York Fashion Week Day 1

Last week this time I was in New York covering Fashion week. As a newbie  blogger that has only been around for 4 months, this was the ultimate dream come true. Now for those of you that know me, I am a talker. I never struggle for words. But when friends and family would ask me, “how was your trip” I struggled to explain it to them.  How do you describe sitting front row at Fashion week? Being called up on the catwalk by famous photographers to take my photo? Being asked by complete strangers in lines at stores to take a selfie because they love my look?  How does one explain the feeling that flows from your soul when your dreams come true?

Was it awesome?

[aw-suh m]

causing or inducing awe; inspiring an overwhelming feeling of reverence, admiration, or fear:
Or maybe amazing?

causing great surprise or sudden wonder.
Possibly even spellbinding?

verb (used with object), spellbound, spellbinding.

to hold or bind by or as if by a spell; enchant; entrance; fascinate.
I searched, and I searched, but  there was not one word in the English dictionary that defined my experience. I’ve always heard that “the French say it better” so I Googled “what’s a French term that means more than amazing” and my question was answered through three little words joie de vivre which can be defined simply as “a delight in being alive; keen, carefree enjoyment of living“. While in New York I discovered a part of myself that I had never quite known. I discovered the carefree excitement of living in my purpose.
New York Fashion Week was one of the most joyous experiences that I’ve experienced. It didn’t matter that the taxi’s wanted to charge a foot and leg just to drop us of at our hotel, I didn’t care that the temperature was 17 degrees with a windchill of -10, I was so happy to be in New York living my dreams that these other minute incidentals would never be enough to bring me down from the cloud I was floating on. I was in New York, and New York was loving me!
A special thanks are in order for Gregory, the Creative Director of Fashion Gallery New York, for the invitation to cover such a successful event.  Thank you to my husband for allowing me to follow my dreams and miss our first Valentines Day apart in 8 years. Thank you to my intern Allison of The Fashion Reel for covering the entire weekend through her lens. And last but not least thank you to my constant, Brittani for supporting me in all of my dreams. Here’s to us being the next Oprah and Gail! lol.
So now, without further ado, I introduce to you, Beautiful Epiphany Goes to Fashion Week, Day 1.

Check out the blog every day this week as we release behind the scenes coverage of New York Fashion Week!
