How to Take Better Blog Pictures

What catches a readers eye before the content is always the pictures. 90% of information transmitted to the brain is visual and visuals are processed 60,000X faster in the brain than text. (Sources: 3M Corporation and Zabisco). If you want to create better quality pictures for your blog here are a few tips to help you out.

1. Learn your camera: If you’re working with a starter Canon or Nikon camera (or any other brand) learn how the camera works in manual mode. Take a couple test shots of your surroundings or outside to get the hang of how the settings work. It is also important to know how your shutter speed and ISO function when taking pictures.

2. Shoot in natural light: Natural light is the best source for quality pictures. Place what you’re shooting outside or near a window during the daytime. Shooting with artificial light can create a horrible white balance. Most likely your pictures will come out with yellow warm tones.

3. DIY backdrops: You can easily set up your own photography studio with foam boards, wallpaper, and even a bed sheet.

4. Make sure the set up of your picture is organized and creative. You don’t want clutter in your photo.
