How To Start Your First Blog

Want to start a blog but don’t feel up to the challenge? Well trust me I know how you feel. When I was first thinking about starting my fashion blog I had no idea what I wanted to write about or where to start. Once I finally figured that out it was easy like 1, 2, 3! Now that I finally got the hang of things, I’m going to share 2 simple steps you need before starting your blog.

What are you passionate about?

This is the first question you need to ask yourself when you’re thinking about starting a blog. Are you passionate about food, traveling, family, fashion, city life, culture, or beauty? Once you figure out your passion it’s so much easier to narrow down what exactly you are going to talk about on your blog. And remember you can do so much with blogging! It just doesn’t have to be writing, you can share pictures and even make videos. Don’t be afraid to be creative! When I realized I loved fashion photography that was the first step that helped me on my journey to making my blog.

Choose a name

Now this part can get tricky. Coming up with creative name that stands out can become a challenging task. The blog I was in the process of making at the time was a fashion photography  blog and I had to think of what creative name can represent that. I can’t remember exactly how it came about but the name I eventually ended up with was “The Fashion Reel”. I chose this name because for one I love fashion and that was the basis of my blog. Two, in photography and film a reel is a sequence of images that either showcase moving or still images. On my blog I wasn’t just showing pictures but fashion videos as well. So when thinking of name jot down a few words that defines who you are or what you’re passionate about. Also, make sure that your blog name is not a long sentence but simple and straight to the point. Ask family and friends what they think of the name as well, this can help your brainstorming process.
