1. How did you get the name Daughter of Eloise for your blog?
I chose the name Daughter of Eloise for the name of my beauty blog in honor of my late grandmother. My grandmother ,Eloise, passed in February of 2013. While grieving I would remind myself of all things that my grandmother taught me about how to be a “young lady” as she would say. She taught me how to have poise, grace, self- love, and through example the values what it means to be a healthy young woman. With that being said, this blog is a way for me to remember her legacy, fulfill my dreams within beauty, and become the woman both she and I would want me to be.
2. When did you first fall in love with the beauty industry?
I have always loved the fashion industry but more importantly the beauty industry. Beauty fascinates me. Especially beauty for women of color. I was never allowed to wear makeup or really have my hair in such a glamorous way for my parents thought at the age of 14 and 15 was too young to do so. Looking back I agree with them, but back then I was going to find a way to get my hands on makeup! I saw my opportunity through my theatre camp freshman year in high school. I had to do my own hair and makeup for all of my shows and found my first love, beauty! Slowly I would sneak and wear makeup to school like every daringly disobedient young girl. And eventually my passion hit me like a ton of bricks! My never ending love for beauty was ignited!
3. Where do you see yourself going with beauty in the near future?
In the future I see myself as a major player within the beauty industry though product development for major brands within the U.S. I also see my YouTube blog/channel becoming a major go to for women of color for beauty tips, trends, and education. To top it off I would and will create my own makeup and natural hair care line in my family’s country of origin Ethiopia.
4. What are your top 3 tips for beauty blogging?
Even though I am a fresh and new blogger I have a few tips from my new found experiences that every blogger comes to learn if they are serious about their blog or v-blog.
Content is king! You must post consistent and up to date content. Even though you may not have a lot of traffic ,you will eventually if you keep up with it.
     2. Post things that are fun!
Its ok to have fun and post things that you’re interested in. If your audience is a of a niche market of your same interests then post anything and everything you think is awesome and relevant.
     3. Love what your blogging about!
Don’t blog for the social media attention, press, or potential advertising opportunities. If your serious about it, it’ll come. Blog because you love to share your knowledge or news you find interesting. Love what you do!
5. Where do you get beauty inspiration from?
I get my beauty inspiration from my peers. I admire the work that my fellow beauty lovers create. Just like fashion lovers create a look from different pieces. I create my looks from fellow beauty bloggers, celebrities, and my peers within the beauty industry and make them my own.
6. What are your top 3 beauty products you carry on the go?
My first favorite beauty product to take on the go is lipstick! I hate to say that I carry about 7 to 10 lipsticks, glosses, balms, and tints in purse on a daily. During the winter my favorite lipstick is from Urban Decay for it has Vitamin E and Jojoba Oil within it’s formula.
My second favorite beauty product for on the go would be any misting moisturizer to get the skin looking healthy and a quick burst moisture for hard winter and hot summer days. Its perfect for all year around.
My third favorite beauty product for on the go would be bobby pins of course! As a curly girl you never know what your hair is going to want to do at any given given moment and that can mean a new hairstyle! With a few bobby pins in your bag your ready for any situation.
